Common Questions

What should I expect in a therapy session?

My goal is to provide a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment in which difficult and challenging issues may be freely addressed.  We will use a collaborative treatment approach to identify your specific needs, expectations, and goals.  Therapy is generally scheduled on a weekly basis with individual sessions lasting 50 minutes and couple’s sessions lasting 90 minutes.  As progress is made, sessions will occur less frequently.  This will allow you the time and space needed to put the techniques discussed in our sessions to use in a "real world" setting.  As your therapist, I will help provide you with the skills and insight needed to live a more satisfying life.

Is what I say in therapy confidential?

Confidentiality is crucial in therapy because of the personal and sensitive subject matter discussed.  However, a situation may arise when you want your therapist to share information with other professionals, such as doctors or attorneys.  Prior to the disclosure of any confidential information, written permission must be obtained from the client in the form of a Release of Information waiver.  Please note: there are certain circumstances in which state law and professional ethics require a therapist to breach confidentiality.  This includes, but is not limited to, reasonablesuspicions of past or present abuse/neglect of children, dependent adults, or the elderly.  Additionally, a therapist is required by law to report any suspicions that the client is in danger of harming himself or threatening serious bodily harm to another identifiable person.

How much does a session cost and do you accept insurance?

Rates:

50-minute individual sessions are available for $100 per session.

90-minute couple’s sessions are available for $125 per session.

Your fee is expected to be paid in full before the start of each session.

Cash, check, and all major credit cards will be accepted as payment.

Insurance:

Unfortunately, I do not accept insurance at this time.  I apologize for any inconvenience this might cause.

Cancellation policy:

We all know that life can often be hectic and unpredictable.  For that reason, clients have the right to contact me up to 24 hours before their scheduled session to inform me that they will be unable to attend.  Clients who do not show for their scheduled session and have not notified me at least 24 hours in advance will be charged the full amount.
